Three Simple Crafts to Keep Kids Busy

Jun 09, 2015
|

The school year is winding down which means your children will soon have a lot of extra time on their hands. As a mom of two, I know first-hand it can be hard to think of activities that keep their interests. Before summer officially starts, I like to take a bit of time to plan a few fun crafts to have on hand. Having some go-to simple craft projects ready will make it much easier to respond to the “I’m bored” scenarios that will inevitably happen at some point over vacation. Here are a few craft ideas that appeal to most ages. Pick up some supplies and you’ll be ready to cure that summer boredom like a champ!

3 simple crafts to keep kids busy

DIY Alphabet Letter Crayons

Chances are, you have enough broken crayons in the house to make this project already. I love this idea because it’s like a spelling lesson and art activity all in one. Have some fun with it and let the kids spell out their names with the letter crayons. You could also put them in small Ziploc® Brand Bags and give them to friends with the letters for their names. Wood Bead Keychains

I love this craft idea because it’s one I would enjoy making along with my kids. I can see my kids putting these on their backpacks while I would hang it from my key ring. What a simple project to do together! Full tutorial here from becraftyworkshop.com.

Mini Weaving Project

If you want to keep them busy for a good amount of time, or give them a project they can work on a little each day ¬– this DIY weaving idea is perfect. Kids will enjoy making this on their own by choosing different colors to weave with. Full tutorial here from artbarblog.com.
