Sugared Pumpkin Donuts

If you like pumpkin pie, these pumpkin donuts just might be your new favorite donut. I love this recipe because it makes moist, flavorful donuts that really have you feeling like you’re eating dessert for breakfast.  They’re baked in the oven which means your kitchen will end up smelling delicious in the process (bonus!).

Sugared Pumpkin Donuts

Prep: 15 Minutes
Bake: 15 Minutes
Yields: About 12 Donuts

Ingredients

15-ounce (1 3/4 cup) can of pumpkin puree
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 3/4 cups flour

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Prepare your donut pan with a light coat of cooking spray.

Whisk together pumpkin, oil, eggs and sugar.

In a separate bowl, mix the spices, salt, baking powder and flour.

Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, mixing well.

Fill each donut well with about a quarter cup of batter or so. You want them about 3/4 full. Bake in a preheated oven for 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the donut comes out clean.

Remove from oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes in the pan.

Remove the donuts and place on a cooling rack to continue cooling.

While still warm, drop donuts individually into a Ziploc® Brand Storage Bag filled with either powered sugared or a combo of cinnamon and sugar (I like to do some of each) and shake until the donut is coated. Remove and continue until all donuts have been sugared.

What is your favorite donut flavor? Are there any flavors that you look forward to during this time of year?
