A Thoughtful Way to Welcome Guests

Jan 20, 2016

Having overnight guests can be a lot of fun, but can also mean a little bit of work for you as hostess. I like to plan a few things ahead of time so that when guests arrive, I feel ready to host and they feel welcomed and comfortable. One way I accomplish this is by putting together a nice welcome basket to have ready in their room.

DIY welcome basket for guests

A thoughtful welcome basket does not have to be complicated or expensive. I like to include a few items that put me at ease while traveling. Below are the items I gather together for guests, but you should put together a basket with any type of essentials that you might think your guests would like or need.

Here’s what I typically include:

  • Bottles of water (it’s always nice to have one on your nightstand)
  • A calming air fragrance, like Glade® Lavender Embrace™ Room Spray. Spraying a little bit before bed always helps me sleep better when I’m away from home.
  • Trail mix, stored in a Ziploc® Brand Bag to preserve freshness.
  • A chocolate treat (because, who doesn’t love that?).
  • A welcome sign that includes the home Wi-Fi password and information about where to get extra towels and blankets.

The ideas are really endless, these are just a few of my go-to items to include. What would make you feel most comfortable as a house guests?
