Steps to declutter drawers

January is a great time to get organized for the coming year, and good organization always starts with decluttering your home. One of the most difficult areas to tidy up is drawers. You know those drawers you just toss everything in? Well it is time to declutter them with these seven steps. These steps can be used on everything from bathroom to junk drawers. I am sure you will enjoy the organized results.

1. Take everything out of your junk drawer.

2. Clean the drawer to remove any debris and dust.

3. Throw away anything that is not useful, recycle old papers and donate anything that you do not need. This is an important step and really helps reduce the clutter.

4. Sort through the drawer’s contents and create piles so you can group similar items together and get a sense of the purpose of the drawer. If there are some items that don't belong in the drawer, put them away properly.

5. Insert drawer organizers. You can use an old cutlery organizer, a desk organizer or empty reusable Ziploc® Brand Containers. Really anything that you find can help hold items in place and separate them by purpose.

6. Place drawer contents neatly back into the drawer.

7. Heave a sigh of relief. Decluttering and organizing feels so good!

What are your best tips and ideas to declutter drawers and get organized for the New Year?
