Throwing a Party? Think Beyond The Living Room

Space for a party in a garden

The next time you begin planning a party or luncheon, take a moment to consider hosting somewhere other than your home. It might seem easier (and less expensive) to entertain at home, but often it ends up being really stressful and costly. Think about how much time you’ll spend preparing all the food, and of course, sprucing up your home. An easy solution is to find an alternative location to host your gathering, saving money and elbow grease.

Here are three places that might be the perfect fit for your next event:

1.    Botanical garden or nursery. If the weather is nice, think about your local botanical garden or nursery as a location for your luncheon or party. You will not need much décor since the area is bound to be green, fragrant and colorful. I recently hosted a baby shower at our local nursery and the space was just perfect. Guests also had a wonderful time since it was such a unique location.

2.    Bakery, pizza parlor or ice cream shop. Why not contact your local favorite eating establishment and see if they would open up their location for your party? I love the idea of incorporating an activity into your party. Why not learn to decorate cupcakes at a local bakery, make your own pizzas at a pizza parlor, or learn to scoop the perfect cone at an ice cream shop? Choosing a place like this can save you money too as you will likely have the location, food and activity all wrapped into one!

3.    Hair Salon, or Barber Shop. When my daughter turned six, we went to a local hair salon with a few of her friends and each girl got pampered and their hair done in a fancy up-do. They had so much fun and it ended up being a really affordable party. Call around and see what you might be able to work out with local salons in your area.

What unique party locations can you think of?
