DIY Pom Pom Banner

May 06, 2016
|

Looking for an easy DIY idea to add some pizazz to your child’s next party? This pom pom banner is super easy to make, but looks downright impressive. It’s really as simple as gluing pom poms onto a banner, but the result is so much more dramatic. You can also use this idea to make a banner for decorating a nursery or child’s room.

I have a birthday tradition with my children to decorate their rooms while they are sleeping on the night before their birthdays. It’s so fun to see their reaction when they wake up and see that their room is transformed into a fun birthday surprise! I’ve reused my DIY pom pom Banner for years as part of this effort, and I love that it has become a sort of tradition. When I’m not using it, I just store it flat so that it remains in nice shape.

pom pom banner materials

You can make your own basic garland banner using cardstock and ribbon, or look for a premade one at your local craft store (that’s what I did). While you’re there, pick up a few bags of mini pom poms in the colors you want to use.

Now, are you ready for the instructions? All you have to do is glue the pom poms onto the banner using hot glue. Try mixing up the patterns and colors for a varied look.

Then, simply hang your banner and you’re done!

What color scheme will you use to make this cute banner?
