Summertime Beach Photo Display

I love to change my home décor as the seasons change. With summertime coming up, I decided to incorporate ocean elements in the form of beach-themed vignettes. Since we live close to the beach, it is easy for us to take a trip and go grab whatever we want. If you are landlocked, most craft stores carry natural craft elements, such as sand and shells that work just as well. Combine your chosen elements with glass vessels and simple wire forms to produce a wonderful photo display!

Summertime Beach Photo Display

Supplies:

Clear glass vessels such as bottles (with or without cork lids), jars or vases
Beach sand
Seashells sized to fit into the opening of glass vessel. You can place larger seashells outside of the vessel.
Small dish, tray or bowl
16-20 gauge wire (thickness is your preference)
Needle-nose pliers
Wire cutters (in case the needle-nose pliers aren’t enough)
Wooden dowel
Photos (I use images from our summer vacations but you can use whatever you prefer)

Directions:

Follow directions for constructing wire photo and card holders. Keep the wire stems on the longer side until you determine the length needed to anchor the stem into the sand in order to keep it stable with the photo attached.

Fill vessels with sand and shells.

If you want to place a photo within the vessel, fill only partially with sand. Position the photo within the vessel up against the glass wall, and add more sand until filled.

If your vessel has a cork lid, pierce the wire stem of photo holders into the center of the cork. Otherwise, slide the stem(s) directly into the sand until stabilized.

Add photos to the wire holders.

Place vessels onto tray or plate and add additional sand and shells if desired, around it.

Display on windows, tables and shelves. These also make great gifts for summertime events.

Do you change décor with the seasons?
