Summer Centerpiece Using Peaches

May 24, 2016

There are few things I enjoy more than creating something really impressive that takes minimal effort. This summer centerpiece is just that, easy but impressive! The best part? Everything for this project can be found on your next trip to the grocery store. Pick up a couple peaches in the produce section and grab your favorite bright bouquet from the floral department and you’ll be ready to put this together in a snap!

Fresh peaches add a brilliant pop of coral color to each centerpiece. It’s an unexpected addition to fresh flowers which certainly makes this arrangement a conversation starter. You can use this idea in a variety of ways depending on the color palette of blooms you’re working with. Consider swapping the peaches out for apples, plums or even lemons. I made these centerpieces for a baby shower I hosted for my sister-in-law. I got so many comments on the “hidden peaches” from the guests. They had never seen fruit and flowers combined this way before! This centerpiece would look great on your standard dinner table or used on a special occasion.

Choose a vase or vessel to put your flowers in. Fill it with water and add 1 tablespoon of sugar (or use flower food if it came with your arrangement).

Trim your flowers so that they are about 4” taller than your vase and add them to the water.

Place your peaches (or other fruit) on a wooden skewer by firmly inserting the skewer into the fruit. For each arrangement, use one or two peaches. You’ll want them to “peek” out from the flowers and greenery, so tuck them in a bit.

Flowers should stay fresh for about a week or so. To prolong their life, remove flowers, trim stem, and place in fresh water daily.

What upcoming occasion will you make a summer centerpiece for?
