Sip of Summer: Peach Milkshakes

In the south, we get very excited about the arrival of fresh summer peaches. What could be more heavenly than taking a bite of one during a hot summer day? Well, this recipe is a close contender. Use this amazing fruit in a simple Peach Milkshake to keep cool and refreshed.

Another great reason (as if you needed more) to enjoy summer peaches is because they are filled with amazing health benefits. One large fresh peach has fewer than 70 calories and contains 3 grams of fiber, 1.5 grams of protein and zero fat or cholesterol. Peaches are also said to be great for your skin, eye health and contribute to a healthy immune system.

Sometimes I get ahead of myself and pick up more peaches than my family could possibly eat before they go bad. When this happens, I peel, slice and freeze them in a Ziploc® Brand Bag for up to 6 months. As an added benefit, when peaches are not in season you can still prepare this Peach Milkshake by substituting 1 1/2 cups frozen sliced peaches. Enjoy this sip of summer for a refreshing dessert or for a scrumptious afternoon snack.

Peach milkshake 

Peach Milkshake

Prep: 5 minutes
Yield: 1 to 2 servings


1/2 to 3/4 cup skim milk
2 fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
1 1/4 cups frozen vanilla yogurt or ice cream


In a blender, combine milk, peaches and ice cream. Blend until smooth and serve immediately.
