As children across the country begin to go back to school, parents are out buying back to school supplies and school clothing. There is always a flurry of activity to ensure your child is prepared for the first day of school. While you are out shopping, consider picking up one of these eco-friendly back to school classroom gifts for the teacher and classmates.

  1. A potted plant
A potted plant is a nice way to make a classroom feel more welcoming, and it is also great for helping keep the air clean and fresh. Spider plants are easy to grow and do a great job cleaning the air.
  2. Eco-friendly school supplies for those in need
When possible, look to buy eco-friendly school supplies. When you stock up on the requested school supplies for your child, grab a few extras for those in need.
  3. Classroom books
Many teachers like to have a collection of books available in case the kids finish their work early or to be used during indoor recess. Visiting a local used book store is an eco-friendly way to pick up some thrifty new finds.
  4. Eco-friendly copy paper
Teachers often have a lot to communicate with parents, and they are sure to appreciate some extra eco-friendly copy paper for their newsletters and notes home.
  5. Recycling Bin
A recycling bin is a helpful tool for a teacher to have on hand, especially since not all schools provide recycling. If that’s the case, you could have a parent to pick up the recycling each week.

I hope you find these eco-friendly classroom gift ideas to be useful and that your child enjoys a great school year!
