Valentine's Day kid scratchers

This is my daughter Aries’ third year in school, and kindergarten has been the greatest milestone for us. When she comes home from school, I love talking about how her day went and what she made in art class. Now that Valentine's Day is just around the corner, I’m super excited to help make gifts for her friends at school. We decided to make these kid-friendly scratchers that are super adorable, and I know her classmates will have so much fun figuring out who the card is from.

To create your own Valentine's Day kid scratchers, you will need the following:

•    Free PDF file printed on cardstock paper
•    Scissors
•    Clear tape
•    Acrylic paint
•    Paint brush
•    Dish soap

Print out the file on cardstock paper. If you wish, you can open up the file and modify it to add the name of your son/daughter or their friends before you print. If not, you can always write it out.

Cut out the cards and place a piece of tape across the bottom rectangle that includes the hearts. Use scissors to cut off any excess tape from the bottom.

Gently mix two parts acrylic paint and one part dish soap until thoroughly combined.

Paint a thin layer of the mixture over the tape. Let dry between each layer, and repeat with two or three more coats to completely cover the tape area.

Once completely dry, they are ready to be gifted! My daughter had to give them a try and loved scratching to reveal her name.

What other themed scratches could you make for your kids?
