Creative Ways to Serve Breakfast

Aug 12, 2016

Weekend breakfasts are one of my favorite meals to whip up and spend quality time with friends and family. Rather than spend the morning cooking, I like to come up with breakfast buffet ideas so my family or overnight guests can help themselves. This makes for a more casual setting and relaxed start to the weekend (and allows me to join in the fun!). Along with the food, you’ll want to set out plenty of plates, napkins and cutlery. I also recommend setting out cups and a pitcher of juice and water. Here are three “themed” buffets I like to set up. I say, pick one and give it a try this weekend!

Bagel spread with cucumbers avacados and salmon

Bagel Bar

Toasted or untoasted, bagels make an easy breakfast choice. I like to place out a few different types of bagels and a toaster. Along with the bagels, give guests several topping options so they can make their own breakfast bagel. Along with the bagels, provide cream cheese and jam. Some other topping ideas include: smoked salmon, tomatoes, cucumbers, berries and chives. Anything really goes here, so set out what you have on hand.

Waffle or Pancake Bar

Make up a bunch of waffles or pancakes and let your guests help themselves. Place out butter and syrup (I like to warm it up a bit), fresh fruit, nuts and whipped cream. If you have extra waffles or pancakes left over you can always freeze them in a large Ziploc® Brand Freezer Bag and heat them up later for a quick and easy breakfast during the week. Reheat pancakes in the microwave and waffles in the toaster.

Yogurt Parfait Bar

Making your own yogurt parfait is a unique breakfast idea. Along with the yogurt, set out different types of fruit like blueberries, strawberries, bananas and blackberries. Also, have at least one type of granola. Guests can have fun layering their own unique parfaits. Don’t forget the spoons!

Do you make big breakfasts on the weekend? Will you try a buffest style set up in the future?
