Does SC Johnson use any natural insecticide ingredients?

Yes, we use ingredients found in nature when they meet consumer standards of performance and safety. In fact, many of the components found in our products are originally developed from natural sources such as plant extracts. One of our insecticide ingredients is pyrethrum, which is extracted from chrysanthemum flowers grown in areas such as East Africa. The insecticide components, called pyrethrins, are contained in the flower’s seeds and we use them in products under the Raid® and Baygon® brands. Also, SC Johnson was one of the first to commercialize extracts of lavender oil for use in moth control and the active component of eucalyptus for mosquito repellency.
