What is SC Johnson's position on Integrated Pest Management?
Integrated Pest Management, or IMP, refers to a variety of pest management measures to effectively control pest populations to acceptable levels while reducing or minimizing the use of insecticide products.
These measures include redesigning and repairing structures; improving sanitation; using non-chemical controls; altering water and mowing practices and landscapes (for example, to eliminate the potential for standing water); employing pest-resistant plant varieties; and applying insecticides judiciously.
SC Johnson supports IPM and education intended to guide consumers on its implementation, including sensible instructions for pesticide use, such as:
- Using pesticides judiciously as well as other scientifically-proven means of eradicating and preventing pest infestation
- Reading labels carefully and using products according to label directions
- Storing products out of the reach of children
- Disposing of products carefully and in accordance with label directions.
