SC Johnson Commitment Volunteer

Helping through Volunteerism

When you really want to get your home clean, you’ve got to roll up your sleeves. The same holds true when you want to better your community.

People Who CareSC Johnson puts a priority on volunteerism all around the world. From making repairs at a South African preschool, to cleaning up a beach in Korea, to helping install organic orchards at a rural school in Uruguay, to supporting the People Who Care volunteer committee in the United States, SC Johnson encourages volunteerism by employees all over the world.

Plus, we offer incentive to get out and do good. For example, a U.S. program called “Dollars for Doers” offers a $250 grant to any non-profit that has seen 40 hours of volunteer time from an SC Johnson employee or retiree. Those who volunteer for more than one organization can apply for grants for each one they support. An organization can receive up to $2,500 per year through this program.

SC Johnson also encourages volunteerism with its H.F. Johnson Community Service Awards, presented in the United States to encourage employee and retiree involvement. Named for third-generation company leader H.F. Johnson, Jr., the program annually recognizes several employees and retirees who have made valuable contributions through community service.

In three decades, the H.F. Johnson Community Service Awards program has recognized nearly 200 generous SC Johnson volunteers. Best of all, as part of the recognition, the recipient selects a charitable organization to receive a financial contribution. Through these awards, almost $400,000 has been provided to non-profit organizations.
