Holiday Side Dish Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Pecans | Family Economics

My children and I love making Brussels sprouts during this time of year, especially around the Thanksgiving holiday. I know what some of you must be thinking – I am so lucky that my children love Brussels sprouts! If your children are on the edge about eating Brussels sprouts or if you’re thinking about serving it to them for the first time this season, give this recipe a try and see how it goes. What I really love about this veggie is that it is filled with a number of vitamins and has so many health benefits. This recipe for Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Pecans is not only super easy to prepare, but the pecans give it a nice flavor, making it an easier sell to your kids. To make them even more appealing, try mixing them into a salad.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Pecans 

Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Pecans


1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved lengthwise
1/2 cup crushed pecans
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper


Preheat oven to 450°F.

Toss Brussels sprouts and pecans with oil, salt and pepper on a lightly greased baking sheet.

Bake 20 to 25 minutes stirring once or twice, until golden brown, crisp outside and tender inside. Transfer to a bowl, and serve.
