Seven Must-Know Organization Tricks | Family Economics

By Trisha

It’s often the simplest organization tricks that I appreciate the most and work the best. Here are seven tricks I’ve come across that will get you saying “I need to do that.”

•    Playing Cards: Use a dollar store travel soap box holder to store playing cards like Go Fish and Uno.

•    Glove Compartment: Create a not-so-emergency kit by using a plastic pencil box filled with various items often needed in your daily or long distance travels. Items include: ketchup packets, salt, straws, napkins, wet wipes, tire gauge, pocketknife, permanent marker, mini flashlight, etc.

•    Get Well Box: Keep all your get-well supplies ready in a large Ziploc® Brand Container. Fill it with a thermometer, cough drops, decongestant, tissue, vapor rub and anything else that is needed when a family member becomes ill.

•    Cord Organization: Save the bread tags from loaves of bread, bagels and English muffins. Using the tags, label your various electronic cords such as your cell phone charger, camera charger, modem or handheld game chargers.

•    Hair Ties: Combine the hair ties floating in your bathroom drawers by placing them all on a carabineer for simple organization.

•    Kitchen Message Board: Place self-adhesive cork squares on the inside of a kitchen cabinet door for a perfect hidden bulletin board.

•    Cupcake Holders/Wrappers: Place your cupcake holders and wrappers in a Ziploc® Brand Container so you can see through to the colors and designs you have stored.

What are some of your favorite tips for getting organized?

I use a carabiner to hold hair ties...then I hook it to the towel bar...it's never lost!

I love the idea of using a carabiner for keeping up with hair ties. They always seem to be all over the place at my house!
