Spring Into a New Wardrobe | Family Economics
By Renee
The days are getting warmer and soon spring will officially appear. Finally! We can peel off all of the heavy layers that have gotten us through the long cold days of winter.
For many people a new season means a new wardrobe. However, during these tight financial times, purchasing an entire wardrobe is not practical for most people. I have a few tips that can help you spice up your wardrobe without having to file bankruptcy.
Remember all of that exercise that I encouraged you to do during January? Well, eight weeks into the New Year (if you've been consistent) you should be seeing results. You may have even gone down one or two sizes!
I, like many women, have a closet full of clothing in various sizes. Now is the time to "shop" my closet. I have always purchased items that are timeless and I don't have to worry about wearing a "trend" that has gone out of style. Searching my closet for clothing to wear has been like a treasure hunt and I've literally struck gold!
Perhaps you were unable to keep your resolution of working out and getting in shape. Have no fear, you too can shop your closet with success. Pair your favorite jeans from last year and purchase some inexpensive accessories to update your wardrobe.
I am partial to handbags, shoes and funky tops. You can frequently find knockoffs of current trendy shoe styles in discount stores, they also have a good selection of handbags. You can also look at closeout stores where you often find designer gear at greatly reduced prices.
And since it is springtime, do not forget to check garage sales. Many people are trying to get rid of things that no longer fit and you can hit a gold mine.
One last place to look for a bargain is your favorite consignment or thrift store. I have found some wonderful items at consignment stores and I am sure if you look carefully, you will too.
Spring into a new wardrobe by applying these easy tips and shopping will be a pleasure and not a chore.
