RACINE, Wis., Feb. 22, 2017 – SC Johnson, the maker of trusted household products like Glade®, Raid®, Scrubbing Bubbles® and Ziploc® today announced the family company is issuing a community-wide challenge to “Empty the Bucket” and support the Racine County Food Bank.

“Empty the Bucket” represents the importance of challenging yourself every day; when you do, great things can happen. This important message is being brought to the Racine-area schools and community by motivational speaker Inky Johnson.

Rising above Adversity through Drive and Determination

Inky Johnson is a former star cornerback for the University of Tennessee who overcame a career-ending injury through perseverance, determination and by “Emptying the Bucket” every day. Johnson is an author and highly sought-after national speaker and will be sharing his unique motivational message with more than 3,000 students during programs at Racine-area high schools and middle schools this week. Based in Atlanta, Johnson’s visit is being supported by SC Johnson.

“It’s important for all of us to take inspiration from Inky’s challenge to push ourselves every day to be better and do better,” said Kelly M. Semrau, Senior Vice President - Global Corporate Affairs, Communication and Sustainability, SC Johnson. “We’re happy that we can bring Inky to Racine and help share his important message in the schools and community.”

As part of Johnson’s motivating program, area schools will participate in an “Empty the Bucket” non-perishable food collection challenge to assist the Racine County Food Bank. The area high school that collects the most donations by weight will receive a $2,500 school donation from SC Johnson. Both the public and private area middle schools that collect the most food donations will each receive a $2,500 school donation from SC Johnson. The challenge ends March 24 and will be managed by the Racine County Food Bank.

Help Stock the Food Pantries of Those in Need by Sharing from Yours

In addition to the in-schools contests, the entire community is invited to help “Empty the Bucket” and support the Racine County Food Bank by placing non-perishable food items in the specially marked buckets located in Racine-area Pick ‘n Save and Piggly Wiggly stores.
