SC Johnson Donates 25,000 Units of OFF!® Repellent to Saúde Criança (Brazil Child Health) Association in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Donation Aims to help Women and Children Protect Themselves from Mosquitoes Carrying Harmful Viruses like Zika and Dengue

RACINE, Wis., March 9, 2016 — SC Johnson today announced a partnership with the Rio de Janeiro-based Associacao Saude Criança (ASC), or Children’s Health Association. SC Johnson will donate 25,000 units of OFF!® personal repellent to be distributed to needy families in Rio and southern Brazil.

“The people of Brazil have been the hardest hit by the Zika virus and we are committed to doing our part to help protect needy families from the spread of this virus,” said Fisk Johnson, Chairman and CEO of SC Johnson. “Our Brazilian headquarters is located in Rio de Janeiro and SCJ people have seen firsthand the devastating effects the Zika virus has had on the community.”

Following the outbreak in Brazil, SC Johnson ramped up its production to meet the greatly increased demand in the country, which is running up to 900% above last year, and to ensure adequate supply of personal repellents for the people of Brazil. SC Johnson has a long history in Brazil, dating back to 1935.

ASC is a non-profit organization that works with Brazilian families who are suffering from chronic disease and poverty to develop action plans to improve their home environment and ultimately lead self-sufficient lives. The organization runs a number of family-oriented programs, including one specifically targeted toward pregnant women and women with young children. ASC is an award-winning organization with international corporate sponsors and partners."

At that moment when Brazil is suffering so much due to Zika and its complication, this donation will make a huge different for the families participating in Saúde Criança's program.  They will be able to protect themselves and minimize the chances of getting ill. Thank you SC Johnson." Cristiana Velloso, Operational Director.

The donation is part of SC Johnson’s overall commitment to donate at least $15 million over the next year to help combat mosquitoes that may carry the Zika virus. The company is the world’s largest manufacturer of insect repellent and household insecticides, including OFF!®, Raid®, Autan® and Baygon®.
