SC Johnson Named One of America's Most Reputable Companies by Reputation Institute

Reputation Institute Reveals Top 50 Most Reputable Companies in the Consumer Category on Products and Services, Innovation, Workplace, Leadership and More

RACINE, Wis., June 1, 2015 – SC Johnson has been named among the most reputable companies in the consumer category, according to the list released by Reputation Institute. The list of America’s top 50 most reputable consumer companies is derived from the data collected for the 2015 US RepTrak® 100 study. The rankings measure the public’s perception of companies based on seven dimensions: innovation, leadership, governance, citizenship, workplace, performance and products/services.

“I’m thrilled for SC Johnson to be recognized for these dimensions and our efforts to build a company the public can trust,” said Fisk Johnson, SC Johnson Chairman and CEO. “These criteria are representative of our values, and as a family company, we hold ourselves to a higher standard to ensure we make products consumers can confidently use in their homes.”

This recognition is another demonstration of SC Johnson’s history of achievement. Our recent history includes receiving the World Environment Center 2015 Gold Medal Award for Sustainable Development Achievements in May 2015 and a Climate Leadership Award for Excellence in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Management from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in February 2015. SC Johnson was recognized as 12th among the World’s Best Multinational Workplaces by the Great Place to Work® Institute in October 2014. In September 2014, the company was recognized for the 26th time as one of the “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers” by Working Mother magazine.

The 2015 US RepTrak® 100 examines perceptions of companies by the U.S. general public based on more than 50,000 interviews. The RepTrak® database is normative, examining 15 stakeholder groups in more than 25 industries and more than 50 countries for more than 7,000 companies.

“The top U.S. companies proactively manage their reputations by investing as much in corporate dimensions like governance, citizenship and workplace as they do in their products and services,” says Brad Hecht, Chief Research Officer at Reputation Institute.

“Companies with strong reputations are 15 times more likely to attract better talent and they reap significant financial benefits, too. The most reputable companies see a stock performance that is two times better than the overall market and they benefit from a 6.5% increase in recommendations every time they improve their RepTrak® score by 5 points.”

The consumer category includes firms that manufacture, market and sell consumer products, consumer durables, and food & beverage products.
