SC Johnson to be Presenting Sponsor of the 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial.
The 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial takes place September 16 through December 31.

RACINE, Wis., September 21, 2016 – SC Johnson, the maker of trusted products found in homes around the world, like Windex®, Ziploc®, Glade®, OFF!® and Pledge®, announced today that it will be the Presenting Sponsor of the 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial.

SC Johnson is providing $2.5 million and will partner with Chicago Architecture Biennial, Inc. on the event. The 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial will take place from September 16 through December 31 in 2017.

“SC Johnson is proud to return to the Chicago Architecture Biennial as the Presenting Sponsor,” said Fisk Johnson, Chairman and CEO of SC Johnson. “Architecture is more than just buildings; these structures can inspire and motivate people to do great things. The Frank Lloyd Wright buildings at our international headquarters in Racine serve as constant reminders of our legacy of bold decisions and making life better for the next generation. We’re thrilled to again share our architectural treasures on this international stage.”

More than 8,000 attendees of the 2015 Biennial visited Racine and enjoyed the free tours of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed buildings. SC Johnson was the $1 million Regional Sponsor for the 2015 Biennial.

“The Chicago Architecture Biennial’s return in 2017 confirms Chicago as an architectural hub,” said Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. “Last year’s edition was a resounding success, and I’m pleased to see the great planning and support for the second Biennial, which will be even better. Not only is the Biennial’s return a testament to our city’s architectural significance, but it speaks to Chicago’s place as one of the world’s cultural destinations and our place in the world of architecture and design.”

SC Johnson’s world headquarters is home to two Frank Lloyd Wright designed buildings—the Administration Building (opened in 1939) and the 15-story Research Tower (opened in 1950) where some of the company’s most iconic brands like Raid®, Glade®, Pledge® and OFF!® were developed. Both buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Chicago Architecture Biennial is an international exhibition of contemporary architecture drawing participants from more than 30 countries.  This will be the second time the Biennial has been held in the United States. More than 500,000 architecture professionals, students, and cultural enthusiasts from around the world attended the first Biennial, where large-scale exhibitions at the Chicago Cultural Center and other spaces around the city were featured.
