SC Johnson Presents Free Community Interest Program on Nov. 12 Featuring Film Collection from Chicago Film Archives

RACINE, Wis., Nov. 10, 2015 -- SC Johnson announced today its second event in a series of five special architecture-themed community interest programs at its Racine, Wis. world headquarters. The free programs are a part of SC Johnson’s support of the Chicago Architecture Biennial and include a free evening tour of the SC Johnson campus.

On Thursday, Nov. 12, at 6:30 p.m., guest lecturer Nancy Watrous, Founder and Executive Director of the Chicago Film Archives presents “Modern Metropolis: Mid-Century Chicago on Film,” a selection of short films that explore the architectural and design history of mid-century Chicago. The program includes a screening of dynamic “city-symphony” films, which celebrate the city’s unmistakable skyline; an ode to stainless steel; and a portrait of Louis Sullivan’s Stock Exchange building.

The Chicago Film Archives identifies, collects, preserves and exhibits films that reflect Midwest history and culture.  Its mission is to promote and save all types of films that originated in the film/celluloid format; including documentaries, experimental films, home movies, travelogues, films that document the Midwest arts and amateur films.

SC Johnson is a regional sponsor of the Chicago Architecture Biennial and has a long-standing commitment to preserving the legacy of architectural icon Frank Lloyd Wright. SC Johnson’s global headquarters in Racine, Wis. features two world renowned signature Frank Lloyd Wright-designed buildings, the Administration Building, which opened in 1939, and its vertical complement the Research Tower, which opened in 1950.
