From Jenny in Texas about Residue after Cleaning her Windshield

I used my Pledge MS on my windshield and when the sun hits it, it almost looks like there is a film on my windshield...why is this? Do other people have this issue? - Jenny from Texas

Hi Jenny – Thanks for getting in touch. We’re sorry you’re not seeing the results you expected with your Pledge® Multi Surface product.

The good news is this condition is not permanent! It is likely the result of surface residue left from another product, the type of cloth you are using or the outside temperature at the time you cleaned your windshield.

As it relates to residue from other products, Pledge® Multi Surface does contain mild cleaners that will remove silicone or residue left behind by other cleaners, wiper fluids, or rain guard products. If all of this residue is not removed with one cleaning, however, the windshield may appear dull or streaky.  

It can be re-cleaned using Pledge® Multi Surface or Windex® and a clean cloth. You may have to repeat a few times depending on the amount of residue on the surface.

Also, make sure you’re using a soft, lint-free cloth, a low-lint, untreated paper towel or newspaper for cleaning. Steer clear of extra-absorbent paper towels which are treated with softening agent and cloths laundered with fabric softener as they can leave a residue.

Finally, avoid cleaning your windshield in very hot or very cold temperatures. The product may evaporate before wiping, causing streaking to occur.
