From Mary, about OFF FamilyCare

"Is OFF family care insect repellent iv safe for 6 month old babies? – Mary from Charlotte"

Hi Mary, thanks for the question. We’re glad you asked because protecting your children and family is something we’re passionate about. The answer is yes.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that DEET-based insect repellents can be used on children older than two months. The DEET concentration should not exceed 30%.

If the child is prone to sucking fingers, toes, arms (as babies often do) then insect repellent should not be applied.  Instead protective clothing, mosquito netting should be considered.

For more mobile children, we recommend that the concentration of DEET is matched to the length of protection required. An insect repellent with two hours protection, such as OFF!® FamilyCare is usually sufficient for young children.

Insect repellents should be not be applied by children themselves, an adult should apply the insect repellent to the child. Do not apply insect repellent where sweat could cause it to run into the eyes.

If you have any other questions about insect repellents, please give us a call at 1-800-558-5252.
