Do You
Know Dengue?
Like malaria, dengue fever is a very dangerous mosquito-borne disease and a major international public health concern.
Experts estimate that 2.5 billion people — two-fifths of the world's population — are now at risk from dengue. In fact, the World Health Organization currently estimates there may be 50 million cases of dengue infection every year.
That's why SC Johnson puts a priority on products that repel mosquitos that may carry dengue, as well as intensive education about the disease during its most dangerous season.
As an example, the company's annual Iwas Dengue campaign in the Philippines reaches more than a hundred thousand households each year — the largest, most recognizable public service program in the country.
Now in our seventh year, the Iwas Dengue program has thee key elements: free spraying in areas experiencing an outbreak, insect repellent sampling, and distribution of educational materials through the country.
That's just one program — we teach about dengue in communities from Latin America to Asia. It's all part of our commitment to protecting public health and keeping families safe.
