DIY Halloween Balloons | Family Economics

Looking to create some simple Halloween decorations? The best projects (in my opinion) are the ones that don’t require a ton of supplies and aren’t overly complicated. This DIY idea is neither of these things. In fact, a few balloons, string, a piece of construction paper, and a permanent marker are the only things you’ll need (that is, in addition to your imagination!).

What I love about decorating with balloons (aside from the fact that it’s affordable and easy), is that you can use them in so many ways. Here, I’ve turned them into Halloween characters that I can place inside the house or outside to decorate a party space or greet the tiniest of trick-or-treaters this year.

Materials

•    Orange, white, and black balloons
•    Ribbon, or string
•    Black construction paper (to make the bat wings)
•    Permanent maker
•    Helium

Instructions

1.    Fill your balloons with helium and tie a ribbon or string to the bottom of them. Be sure to add a weight or tie them down so they don’t float away!

2.    If you’re making pumpkins or ghosts: Simply draw on your faces using a permanent market.

3.    If you’re making bats: Cut out two bat wings from black construction paper and then tape them on each side of your black balloons.

I hope you give these simple decorations a try! These also make cute little gifts to take to teachers or neighbors.

Happy Halloween!
