RACINE, Wis., Nov. 22, 2017 – For every dollar or dime you donate at the familiar Salvation Army Red Kettles in the Racine area this Saturday, SC Johnson will match that gift to help those in need.
In an effort to give this year’s Kettle Campaign a strong start, SC Johnson today announced that the company will match all donations made to Racine area Salvation Army Red Kettles on Saturday, Nov. 25 to help families in the coming months.
“The sounds made by Salvation Army bell ringers remind us that the holidays are upon us, but also that there is need in our community,” said Fisk Johnson, Chairman and CEO of SC Johnson. “Last year we were happy to donate more than $16,000 on the match day and I hope everyone will give generously so we can surpass that amount this year.”
Fisk Johnson was named the honorary chairman of the 2017 Kettle Campaign earlier this month. In 2016, Johnson and the company provided matching donations during the campaign and spurred the Racine community to surpass the goal, raising more than $301,000.
Red Kettles will be located at 21 merchant sites around the community through Dec. 23. Donations can also be sent by mail to help meet the 2017 goal of $305,000.
The annual Red Kettle Campaign supports programs and activities that help disadvantaged families with food, clothing and keeping a warm place to live. The Salvation Army also operates community center programs for children and seniors.
For those interested in volunteering their time, bell ringing are needed. To schedule a time and location call the Salvation Army at 262-632-3147 or send an email to Marcia_Dilbeck@usc.salvationarmy.org
