Statement by SC Johnson on House Passage of PRIA 4

SC Johnson Applauds House Passage of PRIA 4

SC Johnson applauds U.S. House of Representatives passage of the Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA 4).
SC Johnson has supported this program since its inception in 2003.

RACINE, Wis., March 20, 2017 – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives approved the reauthorization of the Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA 4) by a bipartisan voice vote. The reauthorization of this bill continues to provide a system for approving new pesticide and insect repellent products, as well as industry fees to fund the program and pesticide safety education. As the world’s largest manufacturer of insect repellent and household pesticide products, including OFF!® and Raid®, the company has supported this program since its inception in 2003.

The following is a statement from Kelly M. Semrau, Senior Vice President – Global Corporate Affairs, Communication and Sustainability:

“Families need to have confidence that the products they use in their home are safe and effective. OFF!® and Raid® help families protect themselves against household pests and insect-borne diseases. PRIA is critical as it establishes the procedures for government approval of these products, and we support the industry fees to ensure the program’s success. Today’s House vote is an important step in ensuring the continuation of this significant government program, and the continued consumer trust in these products. We encourage the Senate to also approve it soon.”
