Partnerships Help Us Do More and Inspire More People

No one organization can solve the plastic waste crisis alone. We’re proud and grateful to work with partners around the globe to champion a circular economy, support recycling and inspire the next generation to continue the progress.

There’s power in partnerships.

As we have continued our decades-long work to reduce plastic waste, important progress has been possible thanks to partnership with organizations like Ellen Macarthur Foundation, which provides a framework for accountability, and Plastic Bank, which created an ecosystems-approach to recycling that pairs waste collection with positive social impact.

Partnerships also enable us to expand our reach and support innovative new ideas and programs. As we keep working to tackle the plastic waste crisis, increase awareness and engage the next generation in solutions, we’re grateful to our all partners around the globe.

Plastic pollution is an enormous problem, and it is going to take businesses, governments, consumers and civil society working together to solve it.

Fisk Johnson

Chairman and CEO

Ellen Macarthur Foundation

In 2018, our Chairman and CEO, Fisk Johnson, was an inaugural signatory of The New Plastics Economy Global Commitment, an initiative to help create a circular economy for plastics led by the Ellen Macarthur Foundation and UNEP. SC Johnson became a Strategic Partner of EMF in 2019.

Circular Action Alliance

SC Johnson joined the Circular Action Alliance as a Founding Member in 2023. CAA is dedicated to implementing effective extended producer responsibility laws to help create a circular economy. The organization was founded and is governed by 20 producers that represent the food, beverage, consumer goods and retail industry.

The Blue Paradox

SC Johnson created The Blue Paradox in collaboration with our longtime partner Conservation International. Over more than two decades, we’ve worked with Conservation International to drive progress on protecting and replanting rainforests, ocean conservation and more.

Plastic Bank

In 2018, SC Johnson teamed up with Plastic Bank, with the goal of stopping plastic before it reaches the ocean while improving the lives of people who collect it. Through 2024, the amount of recovered coastal plastic equaled 5 Billion single-use plastic bottles from about 500 collection locations across Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Brazil.

Creating Interactive Experiences

In a screen-driven world, SC Johnson is redefining education on plastic waste with immersive experiences that inspire action. Moving beyond static museum displays, these interactive exhibits engage visitors to explore the impact of plastic pollution and discover solutions. By making learning hands-on and impactful, SC Johnson is fostering a deeper understanding and commitment to reducing plastic waste.

Life of a Bottle

Our partnership with Plastic Bank helps us provide income and opportunity for those who pick up ocean-bound plastic, while also helping set up the supply chain to incorporate the recovered coastal plastic into packaging for brands like Windex®.

EarthEcho International

As EarthEcho International works to build a global youth movement to protect and restore our oceans, SC Johnson has teamed up to support their Marine Plastics Ambassador Program. It brings together youth from the U.S. Great Lakes region to experience The Blue Paradox and develop community-based campaigns to educate and act on reducing marine plastics.

Oceanic Society

For over 50 years, Oceanic Society has been inspiring and empowering people to take part in building a healthy future for the world's oceans. We're proud to have partnered with them on multiple initiatives, and most recently, the Critter Scholars Program that provides on-the-water educational tours to underserved student groups in the San Francisco Bay Area.
