Protecting the Health and Wellness of SC Johnson People During COVID-19

SC Johnson's 13,000 employees are working around the clock to make cleaning, sanitizing and disinfectant products that can help reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus.  In keeping our operations running, we have adjusted our ways of working to protect everyone’s safety and well-being.

Here are some of the things we are doing to protect the safety and health of our workforce, as well as meet our customer’s critical needs during this crisis.

Encouraging Remote Working
In line with recommendations to reduce large gatherings and increase social distancing, SC Johnson has asked most office-based employees to work remotely. This includes employees based at the company’s global headquarters in Racine, WI, as well as in locations around the world.

Taking extra steps to protect team members working on site
While many of SC Johnson’s employees are working from home, many are continuing to come to our production sites, laboratory and testing facilities, and offices. Over the past several weeks, we have instituted several measures to protect the health of our team, including:

  • Restricting access to our facility by visitors
  • Assuring employees maintain proper social distancing
  • Extra cleaning and sanitizing
  • Temperature screenings
  • Encouraging employees to wear face coverings in the workplace, where needed.

We continue to actively monitor for updated recommendations issued by key public health authorities, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In the event an employee suspects he or she has been exposed to COVID-19, or testing confirms it, we take actions for the care of those employees as well as take specific action regarding any employee who might have had a level of contact that causes concern. This includes:

  • Immediately implementing isolation and sanitization protocols
  • Beginning any necessary quarantines, in line with guidance from local health officials.
  • All employees who are subject to quarantine procedures continue to receive their regular pay.

In addition, we are implementing several additional benefits for our manufacturing employees who are working extra-long hours to keep producing disinfectant and cleaning products for customers.

High Demand Items
As a company are in a fortunate position that we provide products that can help slow the transmission of the disease. Our Windex Multi-Surface Disinfectant cleaners, Scrubbing Bubbles and Fantastik disinfectant can kill viruses similar to this coronavirus. We also produce several soaps and hand sanitizers for consumer, industrial and healthcare use.

Supporting global and community service organizations, as well as those battling the virus on the front lines
Helping people care for families and communities is at the heart of SC Johnson’s purpose.  With partners like the CDC Foundation supporting first responders and Save the Children empowering children and their families in their fight against this and future health threats, we’re committed to not only being there for those needing help today, but creating a stronger, healthier tomorrow.

We have committed $15 million to help fight COVID-19 and are continuing to assess ways to address the needs of people around the world as the pandemic evolves.
