ISSA Recognizes SC Johnson as the 2020 Hygieia Network Member of the Year

Company Recognized for Commitment to Women's Advancement in the Workplace and Inclusion Efforts

RACINE, Wis., November 18, 2020 – SC Johnson today announced it has been recognized as the ISSA 2020 Hygieia Network Member of the Year. The award recognizes an ISSA Hygieia Network member’s involvement in activities that provide resources and support to encourage women in the cleaning industry to accelerate their careers and foster inclusivity.

SC Johnson makes a special effort to recruit women, LGBTQ people and people of color, and ensure ample opportunities for employees to grow in their careers. To increase the percentage of women in key leadership roles, the company’s succession planning conversations focus on high-potential women and minorities, and specific actions are taken to develop these employees for future leadership roles.

Several examples of SC Johnson’s commitment to development include:

  • The Women's Business Council employee resource group, which supports the development and advancement of women at all levels to enable them to reach their full potential by providing programs and tools for leadership and skill development.
  • SC Johnson offers nine unique business councils to employees, each of which are led by two co-chairs, with at least one of the roles held by a woman.
  • A tuition reimbursement program that pays 100% of approved expenses for work-related courses and programs.
  • Beginning in 2019, SC Johnson partnered with Leading Women Executives. This leadership development program is designed specifically for high-potential women who are prepared to advance from senior management to executive leadership roles. Along with completing in-person modules, a senior-level advocate from SC Johnson is assigned to each participant to provide corporate insights and professional guidance. Participants emerge from the program with a personal action plan to achieve their goals and a company action plan to address organizational challenges and obstacles that may be impacting the advancement of women.

As part of ISSA, the leading trade association for the cleaning industry worldwide, the ISSA Hygieia Network is dedicated to advancing and retaining women in the cleaning industry and has recognized members for their achievements for more than five years through its Member of the Year Award.
