20 Days of Giving

SC Johnson is excited to announce 20 Days of Giving is back for its second year. To celebrate this season of generosity, SC Johnson will donate a total of $400,000 over 20 days to 20 organizations in five states. The donations will help provide a healthier world, and a world with more opportunity by creating pathways to greater economic and social mobility for underserved people in communities in which we operate. 20 Days of Giving began last year as a way for SC Johnson to support organizations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Through December 25, SC Johnson will announce the donations to organizations based in Racine, WI; Chicago, IL; Bay City, MI; Charlotte, NC; and San Francisco, CA here and on our FacebookTwitter,  and Instagram channels.

Racine County Food Bank 
As part of our long commitment to the United Way Racine (Herbert F. Johnson, Sr. helped start the organization in 1922), SC Johnson is proud to support the Racine County Food Bank as they work to collect and distribute 1 million pounds of food to Racine County residents in need each year.
Make-A-Wish Wisconsin
At SC Johnson, we believe a better world is a world with more opportunity and that every kid deserves the opportunity to hope. That’s what Make-A-Wish Wisconsin does for kids, and why we’re proud to support them and the 7,500 wishes they've granted to WI kids so far. 
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Racine and Kenosha Counties
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Racine & Kenosha Counties works tirelessly to help youth achieve their full potential through one on one mentoring. In 2020 alone, 109,000 kids in the U.S. were served by BBBS. SC Johnson is glad to join them and work for a world with more opportunity. 
Cops 'N Kids  
Cops 'N Kids’ goal is to increase kids’ reading skills, and SC Johnson knows that education is a key component to a world with more opportunity. That's why we're proud to have helped give over 5 million books to Cops 'N Kids in Racine over the past 20 years.
Hidden Harvest
Hidden Harvest aims to alleviate hunger and reduce food waste in the Great Lakes Bay Region. In the past 12 months, Hidden Harvest has rescued 2.5 million pounds. SC Johnson is proud to support Hidden Harvest to help create a waste free world and work towards a world with more opportunity. 
Dow Bay Area Family YMCA
Dow Bay Area Family YMCA’s goal is to strengthen the foundations of its community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in the Bay City, Michigan area. At SC Johnson, we value family and community - and that’s why we are happy to contribute to the development of their programs for a world with more opportunities. 
Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin
Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin (VOW) works to make a difference in the lives of at-risk veterans by filling service gaps available to homeless veterans in every community across Wisconsin. Since 2013, the VOW has constructed over 50 tiny homes for veterans in Racine and Milwaukee. SC Johnson is honored to help the veteran community by supporting the VOW, including through funding the SC Johnson Community Center at the James A. Peterson Veteran Village in Racine.  

YWCA of Southeast Wisconsin
YWCA of Southeast Wisconsin is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. In 2020 alone, YWCA SEW had over 800 active participants in their adult education program. This program provides adults learners with the instruction and resources needed to graduate in 20 weeks with a High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED). SC Johnson values education for all ages, as we know it is one step toward a Better World with More Opportunities. SCJ is proud to support YWCA’s adult education program during our 20 Days of Giving campaign.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina
The goal of Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, a Charlotte, North Carolina-area member of Feeding America, is to eliminate hunger in 24 counties North and South Carolina counties. They serve as a regional distribution warehouse (82 million pounds of food annually) and provide training, technical assistance and hunger education to partner agencies. SC Johnson believes food insecurity is a barrier to opportunity and health, and is glad to support Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina in their work toward a better world.
Chicago Toys for Tots
Known for gifting toys to less fortunate children during the holiday season, Toys for Tots also plays a critical role in helping underprivileged children bridge a learning gap that perpetuates a continuous cycle of poverty, by providing access to books. Nearly one in four children grow up without learning to read – and Toys for Tots is helping overcome this barrier by providing an average of 1.5 million books per year, with nearly 42 million books distributed to children across the U.S. since 2008. SC Johnson is proud to support the important work Toys for Tots – Chicago does to strengthen our local communities as we work to collectively create a better world.
Compass Family Services
Since 1914, Compass Family Services has helped San Francisco’s most vulnerable populations. Today, their work focuses on helping unsheltered families in SF become stably housed, emotionally and physically healthy, and economically self-sufficient. This year, SC Johnson is supporting their Adopt-A-Family program to help at-risk families have a holiday full of hope. 
San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program
San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program was created after firefighters saw, firsthand, the loss and devastation caused by fire. They believe that no child should be without a toy during the holiday season, and with support from SC Johnson, will deliver more than 200,000 toys to more than 40,000 children during the toy drive, bringing joy to families across SF. 

Metropolitan Family Services

Since 1857, Metropolitan Family Services has been the engine of change that empowers Chicago-area families to reach their greatest potential and positively impact their communities by empowering families to learn, earn, heal and thrive. In 2021, Metropolitan Family Services helped more than 13,000 children and families through housing navigation, mobile crisis response, adoption and guardian support and preservation across metropolitan. SC Johnson’s donation will support their comprehensive family coaching program during our 20 Days of Giving.

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin

There are nearly half a million Wisconsinites who face hunger, including more than 170,000 children. Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is the leading local hunger-relief organization in the state and believes access to nutritious food is a right for all – and SC Johnson, A Family Company believes it is a key factor in building a healthier world. We are proud to help them serve people in rural, suburban and urban locations across 35 eastern Wisconsin counties, and help provide more than 30 million meals to those in need.

The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army has been dedicated to doing the most good in communities since it was founded in 1865. Since then, they have been helping empower youth, cure hunger, help disaster survivors, overcome poverty, and combat addiction. SC Johnson is proud to include them as one of the 20 Days of Giving as they work for a better world.
 
Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives
Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives seeks to revitalize neighborhoods and create jobs by developing high impact projects, providing financial resources to entrepreneurs and sustaining long-term community partnerships. CNI leverages resources through place-based strategies to drive economic activity and transform these communities into places where more people want to live, work, recreate and do business. SC Johnson’s contribution will help provide 1,000 holiday meals for residents of Chicago’s Pullman neighborhood during this year's 20 Days of Giving.
Greater Chicago Food Depository
Greater Chicago Food Depository believes a healthy community starts with food, and acts as the hub for 700+ food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other programs that provided 97M meals in 2021, while offering job training programs for their neighbors to overcome poverty. SC Johnson support Great Chicago Food Depository and their work for a world with more opportunity during 20 Days of Giving.
 
Backpack Weekend Food Program
Backpack Weekend Food Program’s goal is to provide nutritionally balanced, non-perishable weekend meals to students in Gaston County Schools during the school year so they can come to school ready to learn. BWFP has gathered and donated over 3 million pounds of food to students in the Gaston County School area. At SCJ, we believe that every student should have the opportunity to learn without being hungry, and are glad to support Backpack Weekend Food Program during #20DaysofGiving
Women’s Resource Center
The mission of Women’s Resource Center is to provide crisis intervention, advocacy, education and prevention services for a diverse population of victims or individuals at risk of domestic abuse and/or sexual assault, by promoting positive changes for individuals served and the broader Racine County community. SCJ supports the work of the Women’s Resource Center as a way of helping work toward a world with more opportunity.
 

Children's Wisconsin

Each year, Children’s Wisconsin makes 1.3M connections with kids and families in Wisconsin and beyond. Beyond traditional hospital services, Children’s Wisconsin is also active in more than 1,000 pediatric clinical trials through the Children’s Wisconsin Research Institute, helping strengthen WI communities by partnering with Sojourner Family Peace Center, and providing high-quality care to Wisconsin’s kids with more than 70 facilities, 670 specialty care providers and 20+ primary care locations across the state. SC Johnson is proud to support Children’s WI in Racine and their school-based mental health programs.
