The Ingredients We Use

We want to make it easy for you to find out about our products and the ingredients in them, so you can make informed choices.

SC Johnson launched its first ingredient disclosure initiative in 2009 in the United States, creating the WhatsInsideSCJohnson.com website to list our product ingredients.

Since then, we’ve continued to grow and expand our disclosure, adding additional countries, expanding to registered products that contain active ingredients, listing fragrance ingredients on a product-specific basis and more.

We don’t summarize or simplify what’s in our products. Instead, we provide a detailed list using the scientific names of the ingredients for full transparency. And it’s not just ingredients. Our listings also include the function of the ingredient in that particular product.

Impurities may be present at times either in the raw materials we source or form during manufacturing or storage. To meet our own rigorous quality standards, we continue to work closely with our suppliers to identify and minimize impurities and limit their presence in our formulas. Our products are safe when used as intended and comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Our ingredient website

For over 15 years, we’ve shared details about the ingredients in our formulas on our WhatsInsideSCJohnson.com website.

Restricted Use Materials

When the science prompts us to review ingredients, we explore available alternatives. Sometimes an alternative option may not deliver the same performance or does not meet the needs of the product manufacturing process. In these cases, we may elect to use the ingredient only as necessary and at restricted levels, with consideration for how and when the product is used. And we continue to monitor for alternatives as new ingredients often become available in the market.

We’re committed to transparency

We negotiate with suppliers to be as transparent as we can be about the materials we source for our products.
