RACINE, Wis., September 19, 2016 - SC Johnson announced today that the company sent a donation of 4,000 Scrubbing Bubbles® and Windex® cleaning products to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank for distribution to those cleaning up the aftermath of recent flooding in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area.
Last month’s flood left four feet of water in the organization’s 18,000-square foot facility. Volunteers are in the process of cleaning and disinfecting the facility to get it back in good condition to serve 130 charitable organizations throughout the community. While the organization is in the midst of its own clean up, volunteers continue providing cleaning supplies and food to those in need from a temporary location. Damage from the flood is affecting many areas in Louisiana and has displaced thousands from their homes and caused millions of dollars in damage.
“The flood waters have receded, and now Louisianans are facing a huge challenge with the cleanup effort,” said Kelly M. Semrau, Senior Vice President - Global Corporate Affairs, Communication and Sustainability, SC Johnson. “We’re happy to be able to provide this donation, which is the least we can do to assist an organization that does so much for the community. We do this because we care as only a family company can.”
The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank has been feeding the hungry in Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes since 1984. The organization distributes more than 10 million pounds of food and provides more than 9 million meals per year.
