Teaming Up to Tackle Plastic Waste
In September 2021, SC Johnson teamed up with Liverpool Football Club to create a closed-loop recycling system for plastic beverage bottles used at Anfield Stadium each season.
Through a multi-year partnership called Goals for Change, SC Johnson is collecting the plastic bottles and upcycling them to make new Mr Muscle® trigger bottles.
When announced, Goals for Change marked the first time a U.K. professional sports team helped close the recycling loop on a stadium waste stream. It helps fans make a hands-on impact to minimize waste, while raising awareness about recycling.
The partnership also includes work to support health and opportunity for underserved youth across Liverpool F.C.'s communities in the U.K. and is exploring similar work in Latin America and Asia.
Plus, as the Official Cleaning and Disinfectant Partner of Liverpool F.C., SC Johnson Professional has implemented its Targeted Hygiene program at Anfield, the AXA Training Centre and LFC Academy.
With products like hand sanitizer and washroom soaps, and high impact signage, the program targets high-risk moments when people can pass on germs with solutions that help break the chain of infection.
The hygiene program also has sustainability at heart. SC Johnson Professional’s foam soaps deliver 40% more hand washes compared to the same volume of conventional lotion soap – meaning 36% less soap used and 30% less plastic waste.
