RACINE, Wis., November 1, 2016 - SC Johnson, the maker of trusted household products like Glade®, Raid®, Pledge® and OFF!®, today announced that the family company delivered a donation of 80,000 cans of OFF! Deep Woods® aerosol to the American Red Cross. The personal repellents will be distributed to those on the East Coast cleaning up in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.
Hurricane Matthew struck the eastern United States as a Category 4-5 storm on October 8, roaring up the East Coast through parts of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, leaving devastation in its wake.
“When the storm surge waters receded after the hurricane passed, it left muddy, wet areas that became breeding grounds for mosquitoes,” said Kelly M. Semrau, Senior Vice President - Global Corporate Affairs, Communication and Sustainability, SC Johnson. “We’re pleased to provide this donation to the Red Cross because they can quickly get OFF! personal repellent into the hands of families impacted by this disaster. We do this because we care as only a family company can.”
Today’s contribution is part of SC Johnson’s commitment to donate at least $15 million to help protect families against mosquitoes. To date, more than $7 million of OFF!® products and financial donations have been provided to organizations around the world, especially those in regions with high risk of Zika virus and dengue fever outbreaks.
