SC Johnson launched its ingredient list website back in 2009 in the United States. It now provides product transparency for 5.6 billion people.

Most people agree companies should tell the truth when asked about their products. But at SC Johnson, we think honesty should go even further. We believe in proactively choosing to be transparent about our product ingredients, to help consumers understand the whole story about the products they bring into their homes.

In 2009, we launched our product transparency initiative and ingredient list website to give families as much information as possible about the SC Johnson products they buy. 
Today, our ingredient site provides ingredient information to more than 5.6 billion consumers in 70 countries around the world. The information comes in 35 languages, and includes more than 8,700 products.
Along the way, we’ve hit numerous ingredient disclosure milestones and helped propel our industry toward greater transparency. We published our entire palette of approved fragrance ingredients back in 2012, started product-specific ingredient disclosure in 2015, and launched an industry-leading skin allergen disclosure programin 2017.
And we don’t intend to stop. We negotiate with suppliers to be as transparent as we can be about the materials we source. And, we’re always looking for opportunities for dialogue about ingredients, like our 100% transparent fragrance collections that show the differences between all-natural and synthetic fragrance options.
As our Chairman and CEO has said, because we’re a family company, we don’t make choices just to meet the next quarter’s sales quota. We approach decisions as if the consequences will be sitting down with us at the family dinner table for years to come.
